The railway station of Lenzburg opened on June 23, 1874 by Aargauische Südbahn. The line was extended in 1877.

In 1883 it became also the final destination of Seetalbahn, connecting Lenzburg with Luzern in the south.

In 1902, the Aargauische Südbahn became part of the Swiss Federal Railways, Seetalbahn in 1922.

Seetalbahn was electryfied in 1910, the eastbound rails in 1922, the westbound ones in 1946.

There are little left of the original buildings. The main station building is from the 1960s and was renovated in 2010.

Lenzburg is a stop for Iterregio trains from Olten to Zürich and several commuter rail lines as S26 and S28 of the Aargau S-Bahn system, S3 of Zürich S-Bahn and S9 of Luzern S-Bahn (the former Seetalbahn).

Most tracks are in the north of the main building connected with pedestrian tunnels. The Line to Luzern starts south of the building across the main street.
