Completed in 2002, the Ada County Courthouse replaced the more than 60-year old historic courthouse. The building is home to the State of Idaho's Fourth District court as well as county traffic court. There are also office space for the county clerk, county commissioners, treasurer, public defender and other administrators. The basement is used by the Sheriff's office for loading and unloading prisoners. Hot geothermal water piped over from Warm Springs is used to heat the building.
