In Boston's Beacon Hill neighborhood, behind the Massachusetts State House, is Saltonstall Plaza and the Garden of Peace, with a sculpture at the Somerset Street side.

The sculpture is titled "Ibis Ascending," and it depicts an ibis caught in three positions in the process of lifting into the sky, representing the power of hope. The three forms are touching, making one sculpture. It stands on a concrete base, which has lettering facing the street as follows:

"Garden of Peace
A Memorial to Victims of Homicide"

The Garden of Peace is a small area with a couple winding paths among rounded stones with names inscribed on them who were victims of murder. Among the stones are both John F. Kennedy and his brother Robert. The description in the public art Boston site goes on to say that the artist Judy Kensley McKie (spelled McKee on the web page) lost a son to street violence.
