The constellation Aries is a jumping or running "ram" (or sheep). Aries is the Latin word for ram. It is located between the Taurus and Pisces constellations. It is not a bright or conspicuous constellation. Per its size, Aries ranks 39th in the list of 88 constellations. There are hardly any notable nebulae or galaxies present in the Aries constellation.
The notable stars in the Aries constellation are Alpha Arietis (Hamal), Beta Arietis (Sheratan) and Gamma Arietis (Mesarthim), with Hamal being the brightest. The brightest stars represent the head of the ram.
