Passage Gate is one of several Smithsonian Sculptures on the UC Santa Barbara campus. I found it fenced off for its protection in a construction area near the UCSB Art Museum. At first I thought it was part of the construction site as well.

From the Smithsonian AIC Description:

Abstract sculpture with four wooden posts supporting a sandstone lintel. Two flat stones are positioned on the outside edges of the posts.

From the Smithsonian AIC Remarks:

The artist is an alumnus of the University. The sculpture was his Master's Degree project and a metaphor for graduation and the nature of art itself.
