Mars is the 4th planet from the sun. It is roughly one half the size of earth. It is nicknames the Red planet (for it's color). Technically, the city of Rancho Cordova claims this one.

The orbit around the sun takes 687 days. Mars has two moons, Phobos and Deimos. Mariner space probes viewed Mars in 1960. Viking probes in 1970's sent more images back to earth. Pathfinder mission led to the landing of an unmanned spacecraft in July 1997. It's rover was Sojourner. Meteroites that have landed on earth (1984) have been identified as coming from Mars.
This particular Mars is in a residential neighborhood of Sacramento. Appropriately, it is a very short block.
