The Cape Hearne is one of a fleet of ten 47-foot Search and Rescue boats operated on the Great Lakes by the Canadian Coast Guard. The boat is operated by a crew of 4.
Unlike their US brethern, the CCG are civilian, and fall under the auspices of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. They CCG does however work closely with Canadian Military and RCMP authorities, as well as the USCG.
