Ward's Berry Farm is actually a full farm that not only allows you to pick berries, but also peas and pumpkins at various times, as well!

In Sharon, along Main Street, is Ward's Berry Farm. This farm has a variety of products that it grows and offers Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) and pumpkin and pea picking, in addition to the berries.

Ward's grows produce that is sold in their store, in farmers markets in the region, and even to area restaurants.

As far as pick your own, there are different crops offered through the growing season. Strawberries are offered from mid June to July 1. Blueberries are offered from July 1 through mid-September. And pumpkins are offered from mid-September to the end of October. Naturally, the weather has a lot of influence as to when the crops are ready, so check the web site for final dates. In fact, in 2012, the weather was warm early, at first to start the strawberry fields earlier, but then a frost occurred when the flowers were out, which resulted in fewer fruit that was smaller - still flavorful, though! Also at the time of visit in mid June, there were peas available for picking.

There are different ways to charge for picked produce. For strawberries and blueberries, you purchase a basket at the store, first. The basket was $6.00 in 2012 for a basket that holds about 2.25 lbs of fruit, or $3.00 for a pint container. Pumpkins are different. There are several varieties of pumpkins with a diffent pricing scheme. Pumpkins by weight are $.75/lb ($30 max) in 2012. I could not find specific information about how peas were priced. See the web site or their Facebook page (link from site).

The fields are close enough to walk a short distance. Typically on weekends, hayrides may be available to ride to the fields for an extra $2.

Children are certainly welcome. Pets, however, are not.
