A rather pleasant 19th century pub on the edge of Redhill with a fine with a fine selection of Harveys Ales. A country pub parachuted into the town.

Loads of historical info here and some of it is shown below.
Built as the Anchor in 1865 and now known as the Garland, presumably at least partly after nearby Garlands Road, which was itself named after a house called Great Garlands whose property it skirted, although the pub stands on the corner of the Brighton Road and Grovehill Road. This is one of the few pubs to which a change of name does at least mean something.
What did one customer have to say:
Large, single roomed Harveys pub about 5 minutes from the station. Seperate function room and large garden. Bar Billiards table to one side of the bar. 8 pumps dispensing 5 Harveys beers yesterday starting at £2.80 for the mild. Friendly staff and customers. The fairly standard looking pub menu looked reasonably priced and the portions coming from the kitchen looked good.
All in all a very pleasant pub and one I have often visited on the way to the station in the evenings and CAMRA rate it very highly.
