Die Wallfahrtskirche St. Salvator geht wohl auf eine Gründung des späten 12. Jahrhundert zurück. Nach dem Volksglauben entstand die Kirche aufgrund eines Hostienfrevels, als eine Frau von Siggenham eine geweihte Hostie an der Stelle der heutigen Kirche niederlegte und diese im Boden versank.
Bis in das 19. Jahrhundert kamen alljährlich 18 Bittgänge zu dieser Gnadenstätte. Außer dem "Gnadenbild", einem gegeißelten Heiland, erinnert heute nichts mehr an diese regionale Wallfahrt.
Die heutige Kirche mit ihrem markanten Sattelturm stammt aus der 2. Hälfte des 15. Jahrhunderts. Ihr bedeutenstes Kunstwerk stellt eine Gruppe der Marienkrönung aus der Zeit um 1510 dar.
Seit Jahrhunderten gehört St. Salvator zur Pfarrei Prien, gemeindemäßig aber seit dem Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts zu Rimsting.
Es führt ein Kreuzweg von Prien über das Eichental nach St. Salvator, der 1994 durch die bekannte Chiemgauer Bildhauerin Christine Stadler geschaffen wurde.
Eng verbunden mit der Kirche ist die Sage von den "Untersberger Manderln" die einen geheimen Gang von dort zu den Prienauen gegraben haben sollen.

The pilgrimage church of St. Salvator's probably was founded in the late 12th Century. According to popular belief, the church was due to a host desecration, as laid down by a woman of Siggenham a consecrated host on the site of today's church and they sank into the ground.
Until the 19th Century 18 annual processions came to the church. Except for the picture "Gnadenbild", a scourged savior, now nothing more reminiscent of this regional pilgrimage.
The present church with its distinctive saddle tower dates from the 2nd Half of the 15th Century. The most significant work of art represents a group of the Coronation of the Virgin dating from around 1510.
Closely connected with the Church is the saga of the "Unterberger Manderln" that should have dug a secret passage from there to the Prienauen.
