Wat Ming Muang is the premier Wat of the northern Thai city of Nan. At the main road main entrance to this Wat two lions stand guard on the Wat wall.
These lions are 'Asian' lions, more specifically Hindu, Indian lions, whose imagery has spread throughout China, eastern and south eastern Asia. They are usually found guarding royal palaces and notable public buildings. They also adorn Singha Beer. In Thailand the word is pronounced "Singh" ("Sing").
In height maybe 1m high, in an elaborate harness, with a proud bearing, and entirely in white.
