According to the Mayerthorpe Freelancer eight years ago in a story on the chruch's history "It was a time for reflection and celebration as the Mayerthorpe Baptist Church celebrated 25 years. To commemorate the milestone, over 150 members gathered for a weekend festival at Rangeton Park.

It was a celebration that grew from their humble beginning in 1976 - when a handful of families united to form the Mayerthorpe Baptist Church.

The families wanted a church that was in line with their spiritual beliefs. The autonomy of the Baptist Church and their teachings - that strictly adheres to the scripture - was a good match. The families soon started a small congregation and the Mayerthorpe Baptist Church was born. "
