A cut bench mark on the present church of St Mary the Virgin in Reculver. The stone on which it is cut is cracked, and beginning to show some weather damge.

This is the third church to bear the name of St Mary in Reculver. The first is probably the most well known, it's ruins and twin towers dominate the local skyline. A second church was built much further inland due to fears of sea erosion, but it was poorly built and was later replaced with the current church, which was consecrated in 1878.
