"Die katholische Stadtpfarrkirche Mariä Himmelfahrt befindet sich im Stadtzentrum auf dem Hofberg der Stadt Bad Aibling. Die Geschichte der Kirche geht bis in das Jahr 855 zurück. Zu Beginn stand eine Pfalzkapelle der Agilofinger Herzöge die in der Kapelle ihr christliches Gebet abhielten. Urkundlich wurde die erste Kirche 1431 erwähnt, im Jahr 1663 wurde der gotische Kirchenbau renoviert. Im Jahr 1754 lieferte der Stadtbaumeister Michael Fischer die Pläne für den Aus- und Umbau des Gotteshauses im Barockstil und einer Rokokoausstattung. Ausgeführt wurden die Arbeiten von Abraham Millauer. Von der einstigen Gotik blieb nur der Taufstein und eine Figur im jetzigen Hochaltar. Die Deckengemälde schuf Martin Heigl. Die Rokoko-Stukkaturen sind ein Werk von Thomas Schwarzenberger. Der Bildhauer Josef Götsch fertigte die die Kreuzesgruppe im Chorraum, unter der Kreuzesgruppe befindet sich der Schrein mit Reliquien des Katakomben-Heiligen Honoratus. Die Seitenaltäre sind Arbeiten von Joseph Gütsch. 1941 wurde der Hochaltar durch Wilhelm Kögelsperger mit Ornamenten erneuert. Die Kirche ist tagsüber geöffnet." - Quelle: (visit link)
