The title on the actual plaque reads "Erhardt Neuse House" but the listing of the entry in the THC database is "Neuse, Erhardt, House - Gruene."
The Erhardt Neuse House marker is on the building at 1297 Gruene Rd., Gruene, TX. This house is now used as a Texas styled clothing retail store called the Gruene Trading Co. It is the small house next to the Cantina Del Rio restaurant and across the street (Gruene Rd.) from the H. D. Gruene Mercantile building. This marker is on the left of the entrance and can be overlooked because of various displays the store places outside on the front porch of the house.

Built in the 1880s by Henry D. Gruene, this was the home of the family of Erhardt Neuse, field foreman of Erhardt of H. D. Gruene's vast cotton interests.The Neuse family continued to reside here until the 1930s, when the town of Gruene experinced a decline. Features of the late 19th-century veranacular cottage include an extended side bay with angled conrers, board-and-batten siding, and an inset front porch with milled brackets.
