All Creatures Great and Small dramatizes the work of a practice of vets in the Yorkshire Dales, based on the books of Alfred Wight. The vets, James Herriot, Siegfried Farnon and Tristan Farnon usually deal with large farm animals, and larger than life Yorkshire farmers.
Shortly after starting in practice James Herriot meets Helen Alderson, a local farmer’s daughter. James starts to pine for Helen and eventually plucks up courage to ask Helen out for a date.
