The cannon is sitting in a concrete stand and is well preserved, with a little rust. There is a Royal crest on the top of the cannon in the black paintwork.

New Hall is home to the Lords of the Level who are charged with protecting Romney Marsh from the sea. The hall once contained both a courtroom and local gaol.
