Although Gahanna is today considered a suburb of Columbus, the state's capital city, it was originally founded in 1849 by John Clark who named his 800-acre purchase along Walnut Creek, "Gahanna Plantation," derived from a native American word for the three creeks.
Today Gahanna is a thriving residential community with newer office devlopments.
