The current baroque chateau was rebuilt between 1726-33 by Grand Duchess Maria Anna of Tuscany from a Renaissance chateau at the early 17th century, after peasant rebellion in 1627.

The chateau had a lot of owners: Duke of Bavaria, Elector of Salzburg, last Czech king Ferdinand V. Since the death of Ferdinand V. the chateau belonged to the Austrian emperor. Since 1918 the castle belonged to the state and since 2008 the village Kácov.

Inside the chateau you can find a museum of historic radios and painting gallery.

Dnešní barokní stavba vznikla v letech 1726–33 za velkovévodkyne Anny Marie Toskánské na míste renesancního zámku z pocátku 17. století, poškozeného pri selské rebelii roku 1627.

Na zámku se vystrídala rada majitelu: bavorský vévoda, salcburský kurfirt, poslední ceský král Ferdinand V. Od smrti Ferdinanda V. patril zámek rakouskému císari. Od roku 1918 patril zámek státu a od roku 2008 obci Kácov.

Na zámku je umísteno muzeum historických radioprijímacu a obrazova galerie.
