This water pump provides water for the primitive campground on the Florida Trail in Hickory Hammock. It is accessible by hiking about 2 miles from the Hickory Hammock trailhead on US 98.

The pump is located about 800 SSE of the campground and just east of the FT and west of an non-blazed double track jeep trail. (You cannot drive on the double track yourself; the gate at the trailhead is locked.) The pump is easily visible from both the FT and the double track.

Per a sign on the pump, the water is not potable; it is strongly recommended that you boil it before consumption.

When I visited the pump, there were several jugs laying on the ground nearby. One was specifically labeled as water to prime the pump. So if you use the pump please remember to refill the jug before you finish!

Follow the blue blazed connector trail to the orange blazed Florida Trail and go north. Alternatively, follow the double track trail north from the parking area. It repeatedly crosses the FT. Slightly shorter, but less shaded and less scenic. Nearest FT trailhead to the north is Bluff Hammock, a much longer hike. Visiting Restrictions: Parking and access to Hickory Hammock is free.
