Not far from Cesky Brod you will find a place where the fate of the Hussite forces was sealed.

In the Battle of Lipany the Hussite troops, led by Prokop Holý, clashed with the forces of the Alliance of Lords, on the side of which many former Hussite supporters fought. That is why the alliance was well familiar with the tactics of its adversary.

More over, it used similar weapons and was not surprised to see the enemy using a barrier made from wagons. A superior force, the Alliance of Lords managed to win the battle. Prokop Holý and other Hussite leaders fell and the remaining Hussite men were punished mercilessly.

There is a display dedicated to the battle in the Podlipanské Museum in Ceský Brod. On the
former battlefield a mound was erected in 1881 in remembrance of the battle and as its symbol.

Nedaleko Ceského Brodu se nachází místo, kde byl zpeceten osud sil husitských sil.

V bitve u Lipan se husitská vojska pod vedením Prokopa Holého, srazila se silami panské jednoty - aliance, v níž bojovala i rada bývalých zastáncu husitu. To je duvod, proc aliance byla dobre obeznámena s taktikou svého protivníka.

Mimo znalosti používaných zbraní husitu byla aliancí využita i taktika použití vozové hradby. Presile panské jednoty se tak podarilo bitvu vyhrát. Prokop Holý a další husitští vudci zde padli a zbývající stoupenci husitu byli nemilosrdne potrestáni.

Na bývalém bitevním poli byl postavena v roce 1881 mohyla/památník bitvy. Místo se stalo známé i díky národním manifestacím v 19. a 20. století. V r. 1939 prísahalo u lipanské mohyly vernost vlasti 23 ceskoslovenských generálu, z nichž 15 položilo své životy v dobe fašistické okupace za svobodné a demokratické Ceskoslovensko.
