Stadthaus Laufen was built in 1672 by Johnann Frantz von Roggenbach, reeve of the prince-bishop. In 1869 it was converted into a hospital; in 1953 it became the town hall of Laufen.

During renovations in the late 20th centuries several impressive murals were discovered and restorated.

It is a four-storey building near the south gate of the medieval town wall.
