Captain Schenck was a Revolutionary War veteran who survived and lived to the fairly ripe age of 73. He played a prominent role in the Amwell Skirmish of December 14, 1776 in which a British officer was killed. This was a rather minor incident but known to many of the locals. For those interested a link detailing the event is included here: (visit link)
