This station lies close to the centre of the provincial capital, which shares the name (as does every Thai capital) of the province. The station is smaller than most capital stations. This is due to the low level of local traffic.

Phetchabun is a little 'off the beaten track' (some might say way off). Judging by the bay signs and the tickets on offer, the most popular route is to the neighbouring province of Phitsanulok, which is a transport hub, and to the other nearby provinces, to Bangkok, to the small towns and villages within the province, and, surprisingly, to me at least, a route beginning here and journeying to eastern Thailand, terminating in Rayong.

In design the station is a little different than most. There is a small, front ticket counter/waiting area building. From here one exits to a covered waiting area, with food and drink on offer. Along this, on one side only, are the bus bays. Behind all of this is a large parking area in which buses may rest after their long journey across central Thailand. If you visit, expect to be noticed.
