BURNED AND REBUILT, 1835.
Washington Hunt was not just a Lockport lawyer, he also went on to serve as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, from the 34th NY Congressional District, 1843-1849. He succeeded Millard Filmore as the New York State Comptroller, 1849-1850. He then served as New York State's 17th Governor, 1850-1851.
He died in 1867 and is buried in the Glenwood Cemetery of Lockport.
