Lowmill Bridge gets its name from the mill upstream, now dwelling.

There used to be a weir associated with the mill, upstream of the bridge. (visit link) The old mill with same name as the bridge was one of three mills on this stretch of river. (visit link) The weir went in flood in 1960s. The bridge survived with two arches and steam lined central pier.
