It was unusual for the times but South Ward School was not built aligned to the streets it was located adjacent to. The school sat on the lot diagonally to the adjacent streets. South Ward School was torn down by the 1930's. There was a North Ward School of the same vintage located on 5th Street. There is still a park there as there is at this old school site to this day.
Both photos were taken looking from the intersection of Winchester and Studebaker looking to the south west. the sidewalk in the picture of the school ran from the school up to the corner of the lot.
Year photo was taken: 1910
