This is both a marine sanctuary to protect important humpback whale habitat here, and also an education center with a wide array of programs and outreach projects. The visitor center is open year round, M-F. It is also an excellent place for whale watching with a viewing platform and binoculars. There is a Hawaii state historical marker at this location.
Plans are underway for new facilities at this location, so visitors may find it significantly different from the views shown here.
