This cattle trough is located on Ray Street Bridge to the north of Farringdon station.

With these troughs it is difficult to tell if they are in their original location or if they have been moved. With the Smithfield meat market being a few hundred metres to the south it is possible that this trough is in its original position. The trough lies to the east of the main road (Farringdon Road) that leads to the market and there is sufficient space to keep cattle before their final journey.

The long sides of the trough both bear the same inscription:
"Metropolitan Drinking Fountain & Cattle Trough Association".
Bothe ends have an inscription that reads:
"In Memorium C.C. 1886".
