Citadel of Aleppo - Aleppo, Syria - Numismatic Photographs on Waymarking.com

I visited Syria in November 2011 and stayed in Aleppo (which is the second largest city in the country with about 3 million inhabitants). Naturally I visited the citadel, a fortress on the top of an artificial hill.

Then I found this coin of five Syrian pounds, depicting the ramp and defensive towers of the access to the fortress.
