Morgan's Great Raid: Six Days of Terror; # 11 Sign/Marker, John Hunt Morgan Heritage Trail - 1863 in Indiana: Morgan's Raiders advanced through Vienna (where this marker is located) arriving in Lexington at dusk on July 10, 1863. A Union cavalry force of 4,000 commanded by General Edward H. Hobson was in pursuit. Plus in Indianapolis, Indiana Governor Oliver P. Morton asked General Lew Wallace to command 13 regiments of "Minutemen" in defense of Morgan's Raid.
