The Lawrence Vikings - a Division III school call the "Banta Bowl" home. A far cry from its 100,000+ D1 cousins, the Banta Bowl is a natural grass field that seats 5255. It was built in 1965, and is named after its benefactor, George Banta Jr., a 1910 graduate of Lawrence College. They play in the Midwest Conference, and as of the 2011 season they were coached by Mike Barthelmess. What is unique about this stadium is that the bowl is built into a natural ravine. It has been described as "the finest of its kind in the Midwest conference and one of the finest among small private colleges in the country."
