A WW1 war memorial with the addition of WW2 panels to the men of Rawmarsh and Parkgate.

A cenotaph type of memorial in stone set upon a plinth to WW1. Behind this is a semicircular stone wall which has on the right side a memorial to WW2, and on the left some panels to individuals lost at later dates. In front and to the left of the memorial is a dedication to the horses of WW1 in the form of a trough, lions head tap and dedication panel. In front of this set into the paving is the form of a poppy with a brass dedication ring around it. There are flower beds,one to the lower left area, this one with a sign giving history of the site, and a flower bed each side of the memorial.
Inscription on the front of the memorial reads-
"TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN ABIDING REMEMBRANCE OF THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR
A TOKEN OF THANKSGIVING FOR PRESERVATION DURING THE WAR AND A SYMBOL OF HOPE FOR A NEW WORLD WHEREIN WAR SHALL BE NO MORE"
"GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS"
"1914 - 1918"

The WW2 panel reads-
"SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF THE MEN OF RAWMARSH AND PARKGATE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE WAR OF 1939-1945"

Inscription above the horse trough reads -
"THIS TROUGH HAS BEEN PLACED HERE AS A TRIBUTE TO THE PART PLAYED BY HORSES IN THE 1914-1918 WAR"

Inscription around the poppy reads-
"AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN AND IN THE MORNING WE WILL REMEMBER THEM"

At the rear of the plinth is inscribed "C.W.Hutton. Architect 1928"
