This sculpture consists of four steel plates arranged in a cross, mounted on a concrete pedestal, tucked in under the trees. Each panel is geometic cut-outs such as trangles, spirals, rectangles, etc. The metal is left bare, acquiring a rust color. There in not title or interpretation given for the piece.

Balkahia Farid was born in 1934 in Marakech, Morrocco where he currently resides and works. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, and in 1959 and the Academy Theatre in Prague where he studied set design. From 1962 to 1974, he was Director of the School of Fine Arts in Casablanca. He has traveled extensively throught the Mid-East, South America, China and Africa. His sculptures are characterized by monumental works as historical and cultural landmarks exploring the universal symbols of life, often using themes from his Berber origins.
