This scratch dial has some hour markings in Roman numerals as well as the 'normal' hour scratches. The right-most horizontal line is numbered 'V'. Going clockwise the next lines are marked ['IV'], 'III', 'II'. That makes the vertical line as 11, then 10 and the mark at the next line is 'IX' = 9. Next is a strange mark, it should be 'VIII' for 8 but looks like 'IX' again. Going further round this makes the last mark at 4 o'clock am. It is difficult to see how the sun would cast a shadow on these last four linesor the 'V' or 'IV' lines with a normally aligned gnomon, which, incidently, is long gone.
Sundial Type: Scratch dial
