[FR] Elle doit son nom à Antoine Parmentier (1737-1813).
Tout le monde fait le rapprochement de la pomme de terre avec Monsieur Parmentier, en fait sa célébrité est due au premier prix, qu'il obtint en 1773 en se présentant au Concours sur le thème des végétaux à l'académie de Besançon. Il en fut le Lauréat, en présentant ses idées sur les remplacements de l'alimentation humaine.

It is on the Avenue Parmentier, which is named after the administrator and scientist Antoine-Augustin Parmentier, promoter of cultivating the potato as a food source (for humans) in France and throughout Europe.
