This plaque was unveiled on 7 Novembe 1969 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Freeport as a deep-water harbour. The first dep draft, ocean going cargo vessel to enter the new harbour was the 7,268-ton, 441-foot Greek SS Samos on 7 November 1959.
