Victoria Bridge
This is one of the oldest railway bridges in NSW. The original bridge, now used as a road bridge, was constructed over the period 1862 to 1869 with work being delayed due to the floods of 1863, 1864 and 1867.
The width of the original bridge was 7.77 metres, room for a single vehicle road and the railway. A galvanised iron fence was erected in the middle to keep the two forms of transport from colliding and a warning system added to warn the drivers of horse drawn vehicles so they could be clear of the bridge when a train crossed.
The new bridge was added when heavier locomotives began to work the line and a double track required. Work began in 1904 and was completed in 1906, with the new bridge coming into use in 1907. At this time the old bridge was altered to carry two lanes of traffic and a footpath constructed along the southern side.
