The fountain was built in 1789 and shows strong influences of the Marquis of Pombal style of construction as well as baroque. On top, the coat of arms of Queen Maria I of Portugal
The architect is unknown. It was built using limestone. The water comes out of the spouts into a small basin and from this one to the big basin on the base.
