The City of Sheffield was twinned with Bochum, Germany in 1950. In 1986 a bell was presented to Sheffield to mark the 35th anniversary. The bell is sited in a flower bed in Sheffield Peace Garden along Pinstone Street. There two plaques mounted on the flowerbed wall, the first one reads-
"PRESENTED BY THE PEOPLE OF BOCHUM TO THE PEOPLE OF SHEFFIELD ON THE OCCASION OF THE 35TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE TWINNING BETWEEN THEIR CITIES 28TH MAY 1986."

The second plaque reads-
"REFURBISHED BY APPRENTICIES OF THE TECHNICAL APPRENTICIES'WORKSHOP OF KRUPP STEEL WORKS A.G. BOCHUM."
