«Lisboa is a a tribute to all those who are builders of cities in its double contextuality, on the conception of the town and on the conception the conception of the work of art.
José de Guimarães is one of the Portuguese creators best-represented internationally, invokes in "Lisboa" (treated as a female figure reclining on the Tagus) the utopia and its allegorical representation in a burst of color, venerated in the drawings of the traditional cobblestone Portuguese walkways that involves the harmonization of the modern cohabitant. Set on seven steps that are its plinth and due to the asymmetry of the part, reaffirms the concept of dynamism that that number is a universal symbol, and the idea of perfection and the conclusion that the Judeo-Christian civilization is always present, particularly on the use of an architectural repertoire inducing the deity as a metaphor.
This "Lisboa," which was painted in Lisbon, represents freedom and independence, pleasure and continuity projecting its reflection in the river and pouring it in all the influences that the artist placed in scale, matter and chroma. Being the design its essence, the light, rhythm and color itsthree-dimensionality, the sculpture develops evoking Picasso and the painting that ne day designed the space. It is the site of chromaticism that infects the shapes, volumes and ambiance, a vibration that releases from earth and allows us to fly, in this case, above the city that is open to modernity and the future and has traditionally rests with his eyes in the water . On the strength of an outspoken visual aesthetic experience, this piece invades the place of symbiosis that there is no more than a timeless and symbolic way of thinking the city.»
