Originally called St Saviours the Parish Church of Tormohun, this was the medieval parish church into which Torquay grew.
This churchyard has memorials for WWI, WWII, Korean and a nonspecific war.
I’ll cover as many as I have recorded with my camera on a dull Torquay weekday visit.
First thing you’ll notice is the small white crosses, very moving indeed.
A least two stones of remembrance with the following text:
IN MEMORY OF THOSE WHO FELL IN THE WORLD WARS/ AND HAVE NO KNOWN GRAVES
The stone in front of the crosses has this text:
Think only this of me, / that there is some corner / of a foreign field / that is forever England.
A very moving and well laid out memorial and garden, the crosses are very poignant.
