Beim Bergisel handelt es sich um einen Hügel im Süden von Innsbruck am Ausgang der Sill in das Inntal.
1809 fanden hier die vier Bergiselschlachten unter dem Oberbefehl von Andreas Hofer statt.
Damals verstand man unter dem Begriff Bergisel allgemein das zum Inntal abfallende Gelände im Süden von Innsbruck, ungefähr zwischen Volders im Osten und Völs im Westen.
Hier befindet sich neben dem Andreas Hofer Denkmal auch das Denkmal von Kaiser Franz Joseph I..
