This wooden structure over a water surface was part of the Expo 98 World Exhibition in Lisbon, Portugal. Its purpose was to show the major role of water as a natural resource.

Designed by architect Alexandre Burmester and José Carlos Gonçalves in 1998 for a private entity, it was offered to the city of Oporto in 2002 and relocated to the city park (Parque da Cidade).

Its role has been maintained since the world exhibition and there are countless educational activities being promoted related to the environment as well as a number of educational artifacts created by the danish company Experimentarium.
