Socha
Socha Mistra Jana Husa je postavena v nadživotní velikosti (celkove kolem 4m) na západní strane Husova námestí. Podnet k jejímu vzniku dal místní divadelní spolek Tyl v roce 1921, kdy byl položen slavnostní kámen. Sochu zhotovil táborský sochar Rudolf Kabeš z umelého kamene. Mistr Jan Hus drží v pravé ruce otevrenou knihu s nápisem "Pravda vítezí" a na podstavci je nápis "Milujte se vespolek, pravdy každému prejte". Socha byla slavnostne odhalena v kvetnu 1926 za velké úcasti obcanu.
Jan Hus
Mistr Jan Hus (asi 1371 Husinec – 6. cervence 1415 Kostnice) byl rímskokatolický knez, ceský stredoveký náboženský myslitel, reformátor a kazatel. Od roku 1398 vyucoval na pražské univerzite a v letech 1409–1410 byl jejím rektorem. Ve svých náboženských pracích kritizoval mravní úpadek, v nemž se ocitla katolická církev, a prejal nekteré myšlenky Johna Wycliffa. Katolická církev ho oznacila za kacíre, jeho ucení za herezi a exkomunikovala jej (1411). Na kostnickém koncilu byl odsouzen jako kacír a vydán svetské moci k upálení na hranici, když odmítl odvolat své ucení. V roce 1999 prohlásil papež Jan Pavel II., že lituje kruté smrti Jana Husa a uznal ho jako reformátora církve. Nekteré Husovy názory (napríklad ten, že knez ve hríchu neplatne udílí svátosti) jsou dodnes katolickou církví vnímány jako teologicky vadné.
Datum jeho upálení se stalo ceským státním svátkem. K jeho odkazu se hlásili husité a pozdeji i další církve a spolecnosti vzešlé z reformace. Jako svého svatého mucedníka jej (spolu se sv. mucedníkem Jeronýmem Pražským) už uctívá pravoslavná církev (dle vyhlášení metropolity Kryštofa, arcibiskupa pražského)

Statue
Statue of Jan Hus (total heights about 4 meters) is placed on the west side of Hus Square. The impetus for its creation was made by a local theater company Tyl in 1921, when the ceremonial stone was laid. The statue made sculptor Rudolf Tábor Kabes of artificial stone. Jan Hus in his right hand holds an open book with the inscription "Truth prevails" and on the pedestal is the inscription "Love one another, every wish for the truth." The statue was unveiled in May 1926.
Jan Hus
Jan Hus (1369 – 6 July 1415), often referred to in English as John Hus or John Huss, was a Czech priest, philosopher, reformer, and master at Charles University in Prague. After John Wycliffe, the theorist of ecclesiastical Reformation, he was, before Luther, Calvin and Zwingli, the first actual Church reformer.
He is famed for having been burned at the stake for heresy against the doctrines of the Catholic Church, including those on ecclesiology (the branch of theology concerned with the nature, constitution and functions of the Church), the Eucharist , and other theological topics. Hus was a key predecessor to the Protestant movement of the sixteenth century, and his teachings had a strong influence on the states of Europe, most immediately in the approval for the existence of a reformist Bohemian religious denomination, and, more than a century later, on Martin Luther himself.
Between 1420 and 1431, the Hussite forces defeated five consecutive papal crusades against followers of Hus. Their defense and rebellion against Roman Catholics became known as the Hussite Wars. A century later, as many as 90% of inhabitants of the Czech lands were non-Catholic and followed the teachings of Hus and his successors.
