A picture of the north & west side of the museum taken in 1919 shows a few changes when compared to today.

The original black and white photo is found inside the museum in an area that describes the history of the building. The caption for the picture reads "View of the South and West sides of the VMMB in 1919", National Archives of Canada. This is incorrect - it is of the North and west sides of the building.
Taking a photo from the exact spot will not work, as there are construction fences currently in place, as well as several mature trees block the view of the museum. So approximately 10m away from the original camera location.
The biggest visual difference is the tower on the front of the museum. Strangely, according to the Museum's website, the tower had to be removed in 1915-16, because of ground instability, (

The glass-walled 'lantern' was installed over the shorter entrance, and officially opened in 2010. (
