This great beaver carving is very appropriate along the highway at Beaver Bay. Beaver Bay is a small community on the north shore of Lake Superior just 50 miles north of Duluth, Minnesota. It is also the oldest community on this shore and the home of legend John Beargrease who is buried in a Chippewa cemetery just up the hill. The beaver stands in a prominent spot; the artist is known only as “JG.”
