In Seward Cemetery stands a beautiful polished black marble headstone. A picture of Monty and his wife Marlene is etched on the stone, as well as an overhead view of his farm, and an oil rig. Monty worked in the oil field and later as a manager and eventually as a consultant for oil companies. He was a graduate of Guthrie High School and served in the U.S. Army.

The etchings on the stone show his farm with a cattle building and pens for sorting cattle. Behind the farmhouse are fields with hay bales lined up. In the lower right is an oil rig representing his years of employment. Between their etched names are two intertwining wedding rings with wheat and their marriage date: Nov. 11, 1977. The headstone is engraved with the following names and dates:
