This war memorial is at the junction of Maze Hill and Charlton Way at the eastern corner of Greenwich Park. Being made from Portland stone it contrasts with the brown walls of the park.

The memorial is described thus: Large white stone wall with relief representation of columns. Arms of the borough of Greenwich are top centre on the memorial.

The left panel is inscribed "1914" and the right panel "1918". Beneath the Greenwich coat of arms is inscribed:
"Borough / of / Greenwich / in / Glorious & Grateful / memory of the men / of this borough / who gave their lives / in the Great War // The / number exceeds 1600 / and their names are / recorded in a roll / of honor deposited / in this memorial".

Running beneath the three panels is a further inscription that reads:
"Also in grateful remembrance of those residents of the borough / who gave their lives to the country during the war 1939 - 1945".
