The Vysocany village was a property of Tepla monastery since its founding in 12th century. The name (Vysoky = High in Czech) indicates its high altitude, over 700m ASL. The only connection to the outside world was a poorly maintained road to Ovesne Kladruby.
In the beginning of 20th century it was a typical farmer village, the only craftsman was the local blacksmith.
In 1946 the German villagers were forced to move to the American occupation zone in Germany and their houses were taken over by new Czech and Slovak settlers. Because of lack of water in the dry summer of 1947 they moved further to other vacancies and the village was finally abandonned in 1950.
